Living Sacrifice album cover

Living Sacrifice is one of my favorite bands.  The other day I was listening to a compilation of their songs that I put together.  As the chorus of one of the songs came on, it seemed the Holy Spirit was pounding the lyrics into me: “Reject all lies!  Reject all lies!”  I listened attentively to the rest of the song.  The message picked up again in the chorus of the following song: “I am in Christ, the Son of God.  I am in Christ, no longer condemned.  I am in Christ, the Son of God.  I am in Christ–resurrected!”  Living Sacrifice is a hardcore metal band, so the Holy Spirit was literally screaming this message into my soul: You need to draw a line in the sand.  You are in Christ and one with Him.  Reject anything and everything that says different.  Any message that brings doubt on your union with Jesus is a lie.

As I meditated on this, I thought of Moses’s response to the golden calf.  He stood at the entrance to Israel’s camp and said, “Whoever is for the LORD, come to me” (Ex. 32:26).  The Levites (Levi means, “joined to”) rallied to Moses.  He told them all to take swords and strike down the idol worshipers in the camp (Ex. 32:27-28).  The Lord is calling me to stand with Him as a Levite–joined to Him.  Anything in me that accepts a false image of Him must be struck down by the sword of the Spirit–the word of the cross (Eph. 6:17).

Hopefully, this ministers to some of you as well.  I pray the Lord will stir us to stand with Him in the truth as it is in Jesus (Eph. 4:21).
