Break Time…

Sam-and-Ralph

I’m going to clock out for a bit and take a blogging break.  For the last month, my family has been very busy selling our house and buying another.  It’s quite the transition.  We’ve lived in our current house for over a decade.  It’s the only house our kids have ever known.  But it’s time to go.  We have watched God superintend every step of the selling and buying process.  For any of you who have ever sold or bought a house, you know what a long, up and down process it can be.  We have felt every high and low of this changing landscape.  One night I asked the Lord if something was wrong with me.  If my emotions were all over the map did that mean I wasn’t trusting Him?  Did walking in the Spirit mean staying lithium-calm in the midst of complicated, nail-biting circumstances?

The Lord answered by saying, no, I wasn’t failing somehow.  He told me selling and buying a house is a worldly process.  That means it has all the stability of a floating house in Venice during an earthquake.  The Lord told me I’m in the world and there’s no way to remain completely unaffected by its flux.

That said, scripture says we are anchored in Christ (Heb. 6:19).  We are exhorted to set our minds on what is above in Christ, not on what is earthly (Col. 3:1-4).  In Him, we have already overcome the world and have peace (John 14:27, 16:33).

Please pray for us the next few weeks.  There are still many details to settle, papers to sign, and then…we have to pack up and move.  The Lord’s grace is sufficient, and we will need every drop of that sufficiency, I am sure!

During my break, feel free to catch up on any posts you’ve missed.  In the bar near the top of the page, just under the title, there are links to booklets I’ve written.  They are in pdf format and can be read online or downloaded to an e-reader/Kindle.

I wish you every spiritual blessing in Christ!  If I can pray for you in any way, please email me at thevoiceofone@gmx.com.
