The Most High Priest

Moses said to Aaron,
“Sacrifice the offering
that is for the people
and make atonement for them,
as the LORD has commanded.”
Aaron then brought the offering
that was for the people.

As they led him away,
a large number of people
followed him, including women
who mourned and wailed for him.

Then he lifted his hands toward the people,
and there they crucified him,
and he blessed them saying,
“Father, forgive them,
for they do not know
what they are doing.”

Having sacrificed
the sin offering,
the burnt offering,
and the fellowship offering,
he called out with a loud voice,
“Father, it is finished;
into your hands I commit my spirit!”

When he had said this,
he breathed his last,
and the glory of the LORD
appeared to all the people.
A centurion, seeing what had happened,
praised God and said,
“Surely this man was the Son of God!”
And when all the people saw it,
they shouted for joy
and fell facedown.
