Equal Glory–Simeon the New Theologian

Christinyou

I know that he who is far outside

the whole creation

Takes me within himself and

hides me in his arms,

And then I find myself outside the

whole world.

I, a frail, small mortal in the world,

Behold the Creator of the world,

all of him, within myself;

And I know that I shall not die,

for I am within the Life,

I have the whole of Life springing

up as a fountain within me.

He is in my heart, he is in heaven:

Both there and here he shows

himself to me with equal glory.

–Simeon the New Theologian (b. 949 d. 1022)

I never cease to be amazed at the view we have by standing on the shoulders of those who have gone before us — such as Simeon the New Theologian. Such a rich heritage we have in those who have gone on before with Christ dwelling in them!

Amen. It always helps to hear from a witness from another time, another place, another perspective. It further establishes God’s testimony in our hearts!

Our God is just awesome! Omnipotent and omnipresent. Great post!

Yes. He’s not an “either/or” God. He’s a “both/and” God. 🙂 Thanks for your comment.
