Jesus has been emphasizing His indwelling. He is relating more and more of spiritual life to this reality. Lately, the Lord has been defining purpose by His indwelling. Jesus living within is my entire purpose and your entire purpose.
Purpose is not found in ministries, activities, or occupations. We may be called to these things but they are instrumental. They are not our purpose. Our purpose is to be the body of Christ, the temple of God, a new creation in which Righteousness Himself dwells (1 Cor. 12:27; Eph. 2:21-22; 2 Peter 3:13; 2 Cor. 5:17). Anytime gifts, ministries, activities, or occupations are mentioned in scripture, they are subservient to the purpose of Christ in us. They aren’t eternal and don’t continue past their usefulness (1 Cor. 13:8-10; Eph. 4:11-13).
So instead of a purpose-driven life, God has a life-driven purpose for us. The life of Christ in us is our purpose–first and last; beginning and end; all in all; length, width, height, and depth (Rev. 22:13; Col. 3:11; Eph. 3:18).
Excellent thanks
Thanks, Daniel 🙂
Very good!! The difference between the two is dramatic. Its no longer “I” but Christ “the life”.
